Sweeping a chimney doesn't require a great deal of knowledge. Identifying unsafe chimney conditions, however, is significantly more challenging. A chimney sweep who is certified by the Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA) has demonstrated knowledge of unsafe chimney conditions and other areas of expertise that an uncertified sweep may or may not posses. Having a certified chimney sweep inspect your chimney gives you an extra degree of comfort that your chimney is safe.*

*IMPORTANT NOTE: No chimney can be deemed safe with 100% certainty because any chimney may contain hidden defects in materials or workmanship that are not visible even with a Level 2 video assisted inspection.
